1971 Corvette Carpet Fasteners

I am replacing the carpeting in my 1971, and I was wondering if anyone knows where to purchase the rubber plugs (fasteners) that have the part number on them. I bought some from ZIP and they do not have the numbers on them. Also, I have the original rear carpeting in my car. The replacement carpeting does not have the vinyl stitched bindings on the sides. Should I keep the original and dye it , since it has faded, or just install the kit and make the carpeting match.. Thanks! Jim

If memory serves, Paragon had the PIF's with the GM PN on them... You might double check with their order desk to see if that's still true.

In my case, I prefer to 'mine' original PIF's from scrap yard cars (same parts as used on most passenger cars from the same era). It's a labor of love getting old originals out intact for re-use, but on a warm summer day, the chore is easier. Plus, in my opinion, aged original PIF's are better/stronger than fresh/new replacements....

I believe there is some reproduction rear storage floor carpet that does have the binding trim.

All I have seen has the binding. And Paragon used to have the carpet plugs with a number, don't know about current supply.
