    C3 (72) Radio Dial

Does anyone know how to repair the radio dial on a C3 radio? I'm talking about the dial that flips from AM to FM and back when you move the AM/FM switch. I had the radio rebuilt about a year and a half ago and the dial flipped from AM to FM and vice versa just fine. About 2 months ago something happened and now when you move the AM/FM switch the dial stays on AM. Has anyone had this problem and can you tell me how it can be fixed?

Thanks for any help - Matt

Hi Matt. If I recall correctly, the AM/FM lever on my 70's radio (which I think would be the same for 72) has a hook sticking out the back that is simply attached to a loop of string. When the level slides it pulls the string which in turn is attached to some sort of arm that flips the dial. It may simply be that this loop of string has broken on your radio.
You'll have to remove the radio (which is a pain), so that you can remove the glass that covers the dials (which is easy, two screws), so that you can see exactly what's the problem. Good Luck

Thanks Pat - I thought there was some sort of string that moved the dial but I wasn't sure how it worked. I've had the radio out numerous times so one more time shouldn't be too tough. Hopefully the string has just slipped off the hook.
