Dates 1961 1962

The casting dates for an engine block could be as short as a day or two prior to assembly. What would be the normal (what one would expect to see) time span for the casting dates of the heads to the engine block casting date?

Art,

Don't get to see many head dates, but on my 1960 (engine pad stamp of 1/18/60), the heads are dated 12/21/59 and 1/14/60. Given the four-day difference between my assembly date and the 1/14 head casting date, I'd think they could go up pretty close to the date of the engine just like other cast parts.

Ray--
Heads jump all over. I just picked up a 64 that's been sitting since 1975--
300hp car, original motor.
Motor is F0225RD
cast B124
Heads (461's) A214 and B224
With my much more extensive experience with 62's I find the same thing--No rhyme, pattern, or identifiable sequence.
It's very uncommon to see heads with identical dates on original motors--the 64 is quite typical of production.
By the way, the 64 is a mid-March car (13629), and that's a pretty good gap between motor assembly and car assembly--but again, not at all atypical.
