    C1 Power Top Hose Needed

I'm looking for an original power top hose for a C1. We recently reinstalled the restored power top unit in my '58 and one of the hoses has a crack in it and is leaking. I need one of the short hoses that runs between the two solenoids. I don't think it makes a difference but it's the one on the drivers side. Anyone have a spare or know a source for used power top parts?

By the way Roy Braatz came through on some of the "spacers" for the bottom of the lift cylinders. A public thank you very much Roy (again!!!)

    Thanks, Ted

    Ted,
I would suggest getting a new hose. If you find an original (with ribs), it is very old and could start flaking on the inside. You do not want particles circulating in a hydrolic system. Try the power top companies that advertise nationally. I purchased a complete set about 16 years ago. Don H.

The guy that rebuilt the unit said that the repro of these hoses require that you change the fittings on the solenoids. He also goes through the originals and cleans them to insure that any debris is removed. My understanding is the crimps on the fittings are different on the repros. I'd really like to find an original if possible. Thanks, Ted

Ted, try NAPA or anyone that makes hydralic hoses as they might be able to use your old ends and affix new hose. Have you checked a hydralic hose supply house for the fittings? Good luck, Gary....

The hoses (and all three lift cylinders) on this '58 unit (and the rebuild of the motor, pump, and solenoid valves) came from Convertible Top Specialists in Inverness, Florida, (352) 637-5505. See my article on C1 Power Top restoration in the November, 2007 issue of "Corvette Enthusiast" magazine for all the details.

You might try Hydro-E-Lectric, 800-343-0437. They list a hose set.

              Ted:
Sent you a PM, but in case you didn't get it and still need ribbed, original hoses, I have some for you. Let me know.
