...still Have Creaking Noise After A Full Stop

I changed the u-joints in the driveshaft, hoping that was the source of the "creaking/clunking" noise when I start out slowly, from a full stop, in either forward or reverse. The driveshaft sure seemed to be the source, but the noise remains. In a previous thread I mentioned it only occurs after a full stop is made. So....any other thoughts as to the source would be appreciated.

So, it's only when taking off after a full stop...Rob, do you still think it's tied to the clutch release, or is the noise generated just because the car begins moving?

I believe it's related to the weight shifting because I can do it a slow or fast enough speed so as not to hear the noise. It seems related to the transfer of torque from the engine to the drive train. Since replacing the driveshaft u-joints wasn't the source, I'll assume it's not the half-shaft u-joints either. I'm not sure what that leaves as a source. Today it sounded like it was almost underneath the driver's seat.

        Rob,
Check the rear carrier front mount. This mount is rubber and prevents the rear from snapping up and down when torque is applied. The rubber can deteriate and allow this movement.

Thanks for the suggestion....I've already replaced it. I'm assuming that unless something is worn, or loose, there shouldn't be any such noise....correct?

Haven't seen the other post mentioned...what year car is it?
Have you checked the trailing arm bushings? Bushings can squeak/creak when dry, and the t-arm is right behind the seat...
Don't rule out the u-joints in the half-shafts, and depending on the year, the half-shaft itself can make a creaking noise on acceleration...

It's a '66....and the trailing arms have not been rebuilt. I'll continue to try to pinpoint the location of the noise. I already replaced the driveshaft u-joints without eliminating the noise and I'm hesitant to due the same with the halfshafts. The noise is only for a second, during the initial transfer of power to the drivetrain. It does not occur any other time.

                Motor mounts? Transmission mount?
