    1972 Wioer motor wiring

I am working on a 1972, this is a late car. There is a red wire coming from the wiper door control switch. This heavy guage wire is not connected to anything. The wipers will start without the door being open? The wiper motor has four terminals not 3 like our 1971?
    Any suggestions?

Scott the 12?10? ga wire should be connected to a safety switch on the cowl. The function of that switch is to keep the motor from operating until the door is open. See if you can find evidence of that switch.

Hi Scott, it was nice to meet you on Saturday at WN.

      The switch looks like this...

        1972 wiper motor

Dick and Scott, Thank you for your replies. My concern is that I have the switch and the wire but no place to plug it into the motor

Look for the other end of the connector that should plug onto the switch. It probably has either been jumpered or the plug cut off and wires connected together. The connector resembles the one on the TI amplifer. Seems that Bubba had done most of the repair work on the systems that I had to fix..

I'm guessing this is the connector you're referring to Dick. (to the right of the pic with red wires)

I've got 2 red wires coming out the other end of it that disappear into the wiring harness...

And I only see one come out by the wiper motor... there's a connector on it with a smaller guage red wire on the other side of the connector. The smaller red wire runs into the left side of the wiper motor...

I believe the other red wire is hot all the time so I'm guessing it runs back to the fusebox.

            I hope this helps.
