    69 Wiper Door Mechanism

My door opens and closes well except it hits the left hand front fender molding, drivers side. The left side has zero clearance but the right hand side has 3/8" clearance. The mechanism does not have much side to side play so I think the bushing are ok. The left hand side is flush with the cowl and grille however the right side is flush with the cowl but 1/4" low at the grille.

The issue started after I removed and installed new wiper arms, could have torqued the wiper door during this task.

Is there any adjustment I can make to remedy this situation?

If I need to rebuild it any suggestions of a shop near Houston, Texas. I have heard too many horror stories concerning the rebuilds and really don't need the frustration.

Erv could you post a pic of each end?

There are adjustments for the mechanism where it attaches to the firewall(oversize holes for up and down-left and right, shims for fore and aft) and there is also a fore and aft adjustment where the aft brackets attach to the cowl at the base of the windshield. Sounds like you may have just accidently leaned on the door and up-set the aft bracket at the base of the windshield but that's just a guess.

I will research to learn how to attach a picture, something I have put off.

      Thanks for the information

Check your copy of the 1969 Chassis Service Manual. If memory serves, the various adjusting components are described in the wiper door section of the book...
