P&A Books Group 8.899 Fastener List Usefull Information

The other day while researching shocks for Garry Barnes I stumbled across a section in the P&A Books that I'd completely forgot about, which might be useful information to the TDB members. Group 8.899 to 8.991 titled "Standard Parts Section" is a list of fasteners, grease zirts, etc. by length, thread and head type. Group 8.899 is in my '56 P&A book and continues onward to my '67 Chassis P&A. Thought y'al might like to know about this section in the P&A books if you've not noticed it before. Regards, Gary....

GM continued that practice by issuing a "Standard Parts Catalog" which was a separate book that was similarly complete, but much larger. They started that in the late 60's or early 70's. Very helpful!

Mike -- I'll keep a lookout for this 'standard parts' catalog, as my search successes with Gr 8.8xx sections are slim. Most fasteners in the AIM are not listed in these P&A30 sections, even for the same production year for both. IMO useful only in a general sense of what sizes and shapes were available.

Yes, that's the problem. Very few of the fasteners actually used in PRODUCTION were available in SERVICE and, thus, are not shown in the Standard Parts Catalog or earlier group 8.9 of the regular P&A Catalog.
