timing light hook up C3

I have a timing light that the positive and negative are short, how will I hook them on a C3 with the battery in the rear? thanks

Lyndon-

Connect the red clip (hot) to the output stud on the alternator, and the black clip (ground) to any bracket on the engine.

I use the horn relay. Works well, and it's right where you will stand to use the light anyway.

buy one of the newer timing lights that use 2 "D" flashlight cells to power it and requires no hook up to 12 volts DC power. they work well even for power timing at high RPMs and they cost about $50

And for one final option, Use another battery. I used a 12V gel cell from my sons ride on plastic jeep. Just set it on the floor by my feet.
