    Fuelies by Robert Genat

    Just received a copy of the subject book the other day. I found it to be very comprehensive and a must for any Fuelie Vette or passenger car owner. Fairly good, but basic Technical description section, not with all the GM detail as the Vette Vues coverage, but adequate. If I had one negative of sorts about it, it would be that he didn't at least include a small section on the "Next Generation" system that was being developed by a contractor in California - a "what might have been" weren't it for the advent and success of the big block. My understanding is that Doug Marion of Super Chevy Magazine and the Sunday drag events purchased all the prototypes and data from the contractor and has it in his garage until today. He once mentioned he might just dispose of at a garage sale to make room for other projects. Would be a shame to loose that part of the "Fuelie History".

    Stu;
    The book written by Ken Kayser on the History of Ramjet Fuel Injection is a fantastic reference book on the subject. A must for anyone interested in the history of F.I.

      Genat's Book, "FUELIES" is a very good read for anyone thinking about buying a 1957 thru 1965 Rochester fuel injection Corvette or passenger Chevrolet. His descriptions are excellent and choice examples of cars are outstanding and represent some of the best fuel injection cars in the world.

      I have never heard about Doug Marion's collection of FI Prototype parts, and I doubt Robert knows about it either. It would be nice if Doug would come forward and share.

      Ken Kayser's book on "THE HISTORY OF RAMJET FUEL INJECTION" is an excellent story of John Dolza and Zora Duntov's work back in the early and late 50's. The 1957 history is one of the best published to date, and will help restorers for years to answer questions about 'what unit' is correct for my car.

      Back in 1974 when NCRS was created we all loved the fuel cars but did not have a clue what they were. Today it is great that people who were involved are 'sharing' their knowledge with the universe. Right or wrong, we are at least sharing and not taking it to the grave.

      Keep up the good work guys, this is what the hobby is all about.

        Doug Marion is semi retired now and has a lot of irons in the fire, but I'm sure he intends to do a write up on the prototype "next generation" material that he has. He recently had published a very comprehesive book titled "ChevyII Nova" which has specifications and data from GM which have never been compiled and published before on performance versions of these Chevy's. I asked him if he'd seen Robert Genat's book and he said he had heard of it and speculated that a good lot of Mr. Genat's information came from the series of articles he himself wrote up for Super Chevy Magazine years ago. He is a guest observer on this TDB and I'm sure if he sees that there is enough interest in the prototype F.I. he will plan to do something with it in the near future. We can only hope. I expect to see him this coming fall in the midwest as there are several events there that I hope will interest him enough to come out of his Southern California retreat. I'll try to move him along on this project then.
