Flywheel/clutch clean-up

I've pulled my clutch and flywheel searching for an oil leak. Both are new and in good shape but the flywheel has something on it. What's the best thing to use to clean it? How about the clutch? Is their anything that can be used on it?

I can't imagine what would be on the flywheel other than, possibly, some engine oil. You could use brake cleaner to clean it. If what you're talking about looks dark "bluish", those are burn marks and you won't be able to clean those off with anything. If there is no surface cracking, the burn marks won't hurt anything. The only way to get these off is to surface the flywheel. However, if there's no surface cracking, there's no need to do this and I would not recommend doing it.

I would not use anything to clean the friction disc unless it has oil on it. In that case, I'd probably replace it. Otherwise, you could use brake cleaner on it as long as you let it dry thoroughly before re-installation.
