I plan to replace the tires on my '86. Any suggestions on what is a good tire. I am looking for a nice touring tire, good in the rain, not a lot of noise. There are so many choices and I could use some input from people who have used a tire using the above criteria that they are satisfied with. I have looked at BF Goodrich g sports and Faulkens, both get mixed reviews on noise, wet traction and tread wear. First time on the board, hope you guys can help me out. Thanks for your time.

You have a VERY narrow range of choices available to you, assuming that you are using stock wheels with stock size tires (P255-50-16), which is what I highly recommend you stay with. Neither Goodyear, Firestone, Bridgestone, or Michelin make a tire in your size. The only ones I know of in that size are the B. F. Goodrich and Falken that you mention as well as Dunlop Sport 8000. The latter are much more expensive than the B.F. Goodrich or Falken models in your size.
So, your quest is just to find a tire that fits your car rather than to choose among a plethora of tires with different performance characteristics. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Tires for 1986
I purchased some "cheapies" on eBay for my '86. After mounting and balance, I had $400 in a set. I believe they were Falkins and handled fine. My original wheels and tires are brought out only for judging.- Top

Try www.Tirerack.com. They have a matrix input form to help you select tires with the charaacteristics you want. If you go with them their prices are fair and they'll direct you to a local mounting shop as well. Good luck.
