    I will not LOSE!

Back from working on the '62. It isn't all fixed, but I now have a handle on the gharging problems. The Gen. is putting out volts. Quite a few actually, but the reg. is not doing it's job. When I jumper a set of points in the reg. I am charging the battery and the guage reads as it should. New reg. is on it's way here. That should fix that.

Oil leak, which I swore was coming from the oil pressure line, is in fact coming from the intake manifold. When I removed the intake, you could see the path the oil was taking. The rebuilder used a sealer, instead of the gaskets. I know the rubber gaskets can be a PIA, but so is a leak! Once gaskets get here, it will leak no more.

Distributer has now shown me why the tach is operating poorly. The gears in the tach drive distributer are bad. I need to find a good rebuilder. I could just place in new mainshaft and driven gear, but I may as well fix it for my life time.

What is the DEAL with these new aluminum rad. petcocks! I am now on my second one in about as many weeks. I went to drain the rad. so I could take the intake off. The the thing appears to gauld it's on threads and you have to take the whole petcock out to drain it. Yes, I know the petcock handle is left hand threads. I must be where these new petcocks go to die. Who makes one that can be used for more than one draining! I will contact the people I bought it from on Tues. I have now paid for 2 of them. You would think I would get one that works!

I hate the problems, but I like it that I now know the cures. I was going to ship this car to Roy, but I think I can avoid that now.

Who is good at distributer rebuilding and has reasonable turn around time?

    Dave,

I've had several distributors rebuilt by Bill Clupper. I "assume" he does older ones for your car just like he does 66-72 ones for me. Excellent job, and he will let you know turnaround time up front.

Check out www.tispecialty.com for service, call and see the turn around time. Have not used his services, but do like the informative 62-74 distributor rebuild information he provides for everyone.

Dang! I had no idea it was that expensive to rebuild a dist. and that is before parts. Of course, who said Corvetteing was cheap! Whoa!
