    C1 Help

Hello, I've got a couple of problems I hope someone can help me with.
First, I sent all of my chrome to be re-plated, including the tail lamp housings. When they came back the brackets that secure the outer lens weren't there. I didn't discover this until I was about to install them. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to get those brackets (a total of 8 pieces + rivets)?
Second, my car appears to have been originally equipped with a low HP FI engine. I found a "correct" engine & FI unit. However, when I opened the box the distributor was in, it turned out to be a 914 unit and everything tells me it should be a 915 unit. My distributor has been rebuilt and is in excellent condition. I'm looking to do a trade for the correct one in like condition. What do y'all think?
    Thanks for listening, again, Gary

I think the 915 is harder to find than 914. You might try one of the FI guys or a free ad in the Driveline. Don H.

      Gary:

Same problem with my tail lights when I got them back from Paul's after re-chroming. Not saying this is your answer, but they had removed the 8 brackets from the body and had put them in a separate bag in with the tail lights. All I had to do was rivet them back in place. I assume this was done so the process wouldn't destroy them. They went right back in (after 20 minutes of some not-so-pleasant language about Paul's losing them) and all was good. You may possibly want to double check the box they came back to you in or call the replater and have him locate them for you. Sounds like he removed them and maybe forgot to repack them.

Paul's has rarely lost parts for me. they usually place small parts in a seperate bag and include it in the shipping carton. what they don't do is warn us that the small package is enclosed and the bag of goodies ends up at the local landfill. i always carefully look thru the packaging materials when i receive a carton from any parts source. good luck, mike

One down and one to go! Thanks to all as to the whereabouts of those bloody tail lamp brackets. I finally found them today, in a bag as y'all thought they'd be. Yeah! Thanks again, Gary
