57 FI Fuel filter adapter studs

What is the correct plating or finish on the 57-58 Fuel Filter bracket to base plate adapter studs. Blackened or cadmium. These are the studs with the circle in the center of them that some call an "O". Thanks, John

    John,
Of the 2 original studs I have one is cad plated. I believe that is the correct finish. And as you stated, the top end of the stud is marked with a "o" which is round, not a "0" (zero) which is egg shaped.

Bruce, Thanx for the nice answer. Typically I get that stud dipped in cad also. But I do believe it was Gary Pronesti that said it was black. Course he is a steel Chevy guy and that could account for his lack of knowledge. JD

John..there may be some room for debate. I took a quick look at the unrestored Eb Rose / Carroll Shelby SEDCO engine which has the original studs in place. The front stud looks like a natural silver finish and the back stud looks a light shade of black.

This is not definitive as the engine has 50 years of grime..plus it is an EK Black Widow engine which would technically be a chevy..although it came from a Sebring Corvette.

            Gary may have a point!

Joe, Zincad often turns black with age. Depends on the plating and the plater for sure. Same thing. Anyhow I can well imagine one of those studs taking on a dark look just from age.Thanx for the imput. JD

So the concensus is that the adapter studs were typically cadmium. I like to use the word typical as it saves ur butt. Learned how to talk like that from Bill Sangrey. Typical, configuration, etc. Words that mean anything is possible.
