GM once had pistons available for the engine up to +0.030", so it will go at least that far. However, I don't know why anyone would want to use a 366 engine. These are "tall deck" (10.2") engines. So, they won't work for Corvette applications except with non-stock-type hoods. Plus, there aren't many intake manifold choices available.

Thanks Joe. I did not realize that. It was something a friend had and he wanted to bore it and put it in his 68 Chevelle to make a SS 396 "clone".

      Thanks,
      Rex

Even for a Chevelle it would be unwise. Plus, finding a 396 block shouldn't be that hard. 2 bolt or 4 bolt, no matter. 4 bolts can be added if desired.

Rex I have been told that the good cores will go .125. Would want to do an ultrasound of the block to check for core shift before I tried it. You can make/buy spacers that would allow you to use a 396 intake
