    C3 68/69 radio speaker loom

I recently bought a pair of radio speakers for my 69, seemed easy enough. The speakers came with a wire loom of 12 inches or so with a nice connector on the end.

Since the speakers install behind the kick panels of my 69 there is no way I can connect this short lead to my original radio that I am reinstalling.

Should the speakers themselves have just a longer loom to connect them to the radio directly or was there a separate loom that connected to the speaker loom to extend the wire to the radio, and if so, was it the same for each side?

How long should the loom be from the speaker to connect to the radio/receiver assembly?

If there is a separate loom does anyone have a source for obtaining one, a part number or anything to help me out?

    Thanks in advance.

I thought reinstalling my rebuilt original radio/receiver assembly and getting rid of the old cassette player would be a painless experience.

Yes I did look at the A.I.M. Jack and I need help! Ref U69 page A3

My recollection is that the speakers have a relatively short pigtail with connector. I don't recall the length of this, but I don't think it was real short-----maybe 18", or so. Vaguely, I recollect that the speaker wires are hardwired into the radio unit. In other words, there is no connector or plug at the radio for these. The leads are fairly long and extend all the way to the point where the pigtail from the speaker connects. There is no "intermediate" harness as far as I can recollect.

Joe is correct and the original radio speaker leads are approx 3 feet long and have the male connector to the speaker. The connectors are fairly easy to obtain.

So we are saying that I have a 3 foot lead directly from the back of the radio that the short speaker pigtail wire plugs into; one for the left side and one for the right side?

So what do I do if I don't have this 3 foot lead from my radio?

Send it out to the radio shop again?

        Jim

know of anybody that sells this 3 foot lead?

I don't know where you would get the leads. However, what do you have now coming out of the radio? Are there just cut-off leads?

In any event, you could simply splice in a longer set of leads as long as you have the connectors. Splicing in longer leads should be no problem, at all.

            Jimmy,
Depending on your skill with a soldering iron, you can easily make up your own leads from some green wire and black wire. The leads are soldered into a removeable panel on the back of the radio. Just follow the ends of the old wires some moron clipped off. If you want I can make you up a set @ NC
