    C2 300 HP 327 1966 Camshaft 14888839?

Surprised to find only one thread in archives about this part number.

What is the best source for a 1966 300 HP camshaft?

Is 14888839 a number the GM Chevrolet Parts guy should know?

What is 3896929? (My 79 parts book says 327 350 EXE. HI/PER and Special HI/PER in addition to older applications.)

In the meantime, I will attempt my search with other keywords.

    Thanks!

3896929 is the correct 300 HP cam and should be available from crane cams. cam and lifter kit is available from GM part # 12364051

The original camshaft in your '66 327/300 was 3733431 (196/196 deg duration at .050" lifter rise), which dates from 1957. This was replaced with 3896929 in 1967, which has slightly different specs and less harsh dynamics, and this cam was used in millions of SB engines for the next 20 years.

The 929 was replaced by the 14088839 sometime in the nineties, and it is virtually identical - same basic specs, but some very slight difference in the lobes.

You can buy a 929 or 839 replacement from many sources including NAPA (Clevite brand) of any parts house that sells the Federal Mogul product line (Sealed Power). Just buy the lowest price replacement you can find.

The basic .050" duration specs are 194/202 degrees, .26000./27333" lobe lift for the 929 and .25654/.26902" for the 839. The two are literally within typical production tolerance of each other.
