How do you tell the difference between a repo. and an original air cleaner decal on a 63 FI

Re: FI air cleaner
Gary, I have many of the current 'repo' decals, all display some deviation from the original. Look at an original and you'll see the top line is shorter than the text below it. Many repos have the top line longer than the text. Also note the end alignment of the lines in the instructions and the wordage in the lines. Noland has some good photos but be sure they're factory and not a 'restored' car photo. Maybe Mike Hanson will put an original photo on here for you, study originals and you'll start to see many differences in the alignment of the logos, the font of the lettering etc. I made a close decal for my 64, had to 'cut & paste' change sizes etc. of the many repos. Good Luck!!!

Typically we buy the 5 buks repro and forget about it. As mentioned watch my friend Nolands book as I do believe you and I did discover that one of the nice pics of decals was suspicious. John D.
P.S. I am under the impression that not all midyear decals are identical. I have seen some variations on unrestored AC's.
Michael Hanson has a nice pic of an original air cleaner but the decal is hard to decipher as I recall.
Andy Cannizzo has the best repro decal on the market right now.- Top

Re: FI air cleaner
Rob, that one is from a 65 last series air cleaner/decal. The part number doesn't appear on the left side on 63/64 decals. Has that nice used original look though!
