Good day to all,
On a 56, is the hard rubber grommet that the steering collumn goes through installed under or on top of the firewall insulation? Also does anyone have a picture of the engine paint overspray on the 2 X 4 intake and gasket?

Steve, Could you please be more specific when you ask for a pic of intake manifold/gasket paint overspray. Do you mean front & rear or R&L side, or??? DC

IMNVHO, NO overspray @ area between sides of intake and cyl heads. Mask covered both aluminum intake manifold and aluminum rocker covers. Some minor orange overspray at front and rear of aluminum intake. Best, Dennis

When I was doing my '56 I asked the same question about the overspary and the general consensus was no overspray. It was judged five times at local and regional and I never received a deduct for not have overspray. And yes, the rubber grommet goes on top of the firewall insulation.
