55 pan gasket and rear main seal

I'm replacing the rope packing on my 55, and would like to know what sealant I could use on the pan gaskets, and if I should use it on the rear man seal?

If you're using an original-type rope seal, no sealer is used on the mating ends of the seal after t*******; however, the rearmost 1/2" or so of the mating surface between the main cap and the block requires sealer.

A much more reliable updated 2-piece polymer seal to replace the old rope seal is available from Paragon (#4340K), Fel-Pro (#13241, I think), or #BPE-200 from Gary Pronesti, (352) 253-1957, or #010309 from Danchuk.

I've had good luck with Permatex "Ultra-Copper" hi-temp RTV.

Thanks for the response. I'm using the new 2 piece type seal. Should I put any sealant where they meet?

I used Permatex copper when I took the rope seal out of my '55 265. I did put a spot of the sealer between the seals where they joined.
