    Auto to 4 Speed Conversion

    Hi...

    I'm going to take a look at a 1978 coupe as a project/driver car. The car currently has a small block in it with auto transmission. Does anyone have any experience with converting something like this to a big block 4 speed car??? The new drive train would be C2 vintage with a Muncie M20...

    Thanks!

    One of the old vette mags ran a step by step article on such a conversion for a C3. I'll look for it and if I find it, I'll mail you a copy. Conversion and article was done by a shop located on Woodbridge Ave in Edison, NJ.
    Maybe it was VETTE or Corvette Fever....way back when. Di Shiavi I think or Zaino brothers.....

        Not to highjack this, but I'd like to put a four speed in my 62. Would that be a fairly easy straight forward install for an amature like me?

          With an original block and adding a T-10

          Straight forward but;
          need to drill hole in firewall, add some hardware there
          weld clutch tower to frame
          add clutch pedal to pedal assemmbly
          maybe drill hole for pilot bushing in crank or just get correct sized pilot bushing
          rearrange throttle linkage on carb or change carb if it is original to the a/t
          don't recall if drivesaft is the same length

          check side of block if drilled for flat clutch pivot bracket, depends on what block you have

          consider if close or wide ratio trans and rear gearing to suit your taste....maybe a 3:55 in there now?

          bellhousing, flywheel, shifter, trans mount, etc
