1963 Engine Block

My car was built in May/63. I currently have a 327/300 1967 block, but the rest of the engine has all the correct dates for my build date. The 63 block cracked in 67 and they put a replacement block in. I'm looking to put the correct casting dated engine in the car after the rebuild.

My Question: Are there any leads for me for reliable sellers?

Are you saying the heads and intake are correct for your 63? If so I would look at some of the other chevy sites and if you can post there ask around, you may be surprised. A correct dated block out of a Impala may show up for you, just make sure it's a Flint block. If the engine in my 63 was not original, I think that is exactly the same way I would proceed.

Try Engined Limited (Randy Chapin) in Wisconsin. I got my 1963 870 block from him. If you pick up a current copy of Hemmings you will find a list of casting dates he has available. You can either get the block from him "as is" of have him do some machining.

My car is an early March '63 and he supplied a January '63 block. I had him deck it and stamp it with my Vin and a workable build date.

There is a second block/heads guy in Wisconsin, Tom something-or-other. Good guy too and can be found in Hemmings.

Either guy will help you out.
