    1972 c3 shock mounts

With shock mounts installed (no shocks), the right shock mount threaded stud is parallel to the floor. The left shock mount threaded stud is pointing downward by about 22 degrees.
Both sides of the rear suspension components are equal in all respects and at the normal ride height.
    The shock mounts are new.
Any ideas as to why the difference between the left and right angles of the shock mounts?

    Hi Wayne,
Isn't it the flat area of the shock shaft's shaft that mounts through the spindle support's legs with flattened holes what determines the angle of the stud? Have you examined that connection on each side very carefully to look for a culprit?
    Regards,
    Alan

PS: Sometimes simple things aren't so obvious... I made my 3rd trip to IKEA today for some hidden 125 degree hinges... once their mistake and once mine.

Alan, you are correct in the machined flat areas of the shock mount and the spindle support. These are new shock mounts and I may have one that is machined incorrectly. I am in the process of taking everything apart to try and find the culprit. Wayne

Wayne, Before taking everything apart try taking a wrench and turn the shock mount up to the correct position. There is probably a little play in the flat and it will be fine.

Problem resolved. There was enough tolerance in the spindle support for the shock mounts to be turned for a proper alignment. Thanks for your help.
