    New repo. Knock Offs??

Has anyone seen these new repo.Knock offs in person or witnessed them getting judged. From the pix they look better than the Mid guys. I believe the new vendor name is Finest Corvettes? Are they worth the price? Thanks DG

    Dick -

I saw a set of the AFC KO's for the first time on a rolling chassis on display outside the hotel at the Motor City Regional, and they looked outstanding - thin fins, correct rim flange section, etc. I'm not a KO expert, but they looked FAR better than the current China-sourced Corvette America KO's with the ugly thick fins.

I talked a good friend here in town into spending the extra cash for the new AFC wheels. They're now on his 66 coupe and they look GREAT! They look like the real thing.
I had an NOS GM set on my 66 and the new AFC wheels are incredibly close in every way.
In my opinion, these things are well worth the extra money over any previous reproduction wheels. The difference is visible from 100 feet away.

So, in between playing professional golf you mess with Corvettes?

I wonder where is the cheapest place to buy these wheels. I have seen them on ebay. When they were first advertised, I called AFC and they told me they were sold without any hardware or spinners. How about now? He told me I had to order the hardware and spinners from Mid America. By the way they are stil made in CHINA. DG

I have had my set judged on my '66 and lost one point for each wheel. I also lost one point each for the spinners as they do not have the same markings in the backside as the originals. So 8 points total. If you are buying a set for a '67 then it may save the 4 point spinner problem but but I have not seen set on a '67 with the center cap.

You will have to find an original KO for the spare because these wheels bolt on and do not use spinners.

                I echo John Hinckley's comments...

I bought the Corvette America Direct Bolt KO wheels first and returned them after opening the boxes. I had original K-H KO's on my car and the latest CA repops didn't even come close enough for me to consider keeping them...

Just purchased 5 of AFC's Direct Bolt KO's and am very pleased with the wheels. Great attention to detail on all of the components and all of the parts were in stock and purchased through AFC...The machining and finish is as good as I've seen on repop parts in a while...Didn't have to consider returning anything, the quality was that good...

                Yep, they cost more, but...

Talk with Michael...He'll hook you up...

                  John,
The only thing I have in common with the golfer is drinking beer on occasion....I've never even played golf.
                  best regards,
