Rob, hold the knob with a pair of pliers taped up to it won't mar the clock stem and turn the knob to the left. If it's too tight you might have to use a pair of taped up pliers on it also or spray it with CRC Freeze Off to loosen the knob up. Gary....

Garry your right on the money with that. I just had my rebuilt clock apart because there was a piece of lint behind glass that was completly doing my head in. So I pulled the knob out held the stem with a taped up pair of pliers and turned the knob anti clockwise and bingo it unscrewed.
Hey Rob what are you doing with a 63 clock thats not your year.
Don't tell me you have crossed to the dark side.

        Hi Stewart,

I did cross the dark side, have a look at http://www.c2registry.org/index.php?...d=10&order=asc and let the force be with you...

        haha,

When you put it back together, use a dab of blue Locktite on the threads. This way it will not unscrew if you happen to turn the knob counterclockwise.

            Hi gary,

I haev tried to get the konb of using your instructions but it is Sooooo stuck. I'll put some WD40 on it tonight and let it soak and hopefully I can get it of tomorrow. Otherwise I'm afraid I can't replace the glass (or I have cut the axle and put a new one in from a donor clock).

PS does anyone has such a part (including the little gear since mine is missing 1 teeth).

            greetings,
            Rob.

Rob, see if you can find this product http://www.crcindustries.com/auto/content/fzo.aspx

It works great. If not go to a pharmacy and get some "wart remover", the kind that freezes off warts. It's basically the same and will produce the same result. With CRC Freeze Off I would spray it 3-4 times in 5 minute increments and then try it. I have unstuck some really stuck steel screws in aluminum very easily after using Freeze Off. Before Freeze Off I used to use the wart remover. Trick learned from an old machinist.

The gears are probably available from one of the clock restorers. Send me a photo on e-mail and will check around and let you know what I find out.

I think the best looking car I've ever seen besides my 60 (not)was a black split window. They have a look no other car has I look forward to lots of progressive photos.

Ok, I've been able to remove the knob, after applying some WD40 and an overnight soak. Next is ordering a fresh lense and I'm also considering to replace the outer ring and knob.

I've got the glass and chrome/silver ring now replaced and the inner ring repainted (semi-gloss black) and this is the end-result.
