55 Steering shaft removal

If you remove the radiator asem, grill and disconneft the pitman are can you remove the steering box and shaft from a 55 without lifting the body?

Yes with a little damage to the left inner fender panel ,

Tyler It's not that bad , but some have heated up the cast box to remove the column out through the dash then pull the assy. But again with a little wiggling and some scratches of the inner panel it can be done.(remove the pitman arm. )

Weigh out the time to pull the body vs. repairing a few scratches. I did mine body on, not too bad, the fenderwell flexes... Your call.
