    Part identification

I could use some help. I am missing the formed metal (steel) housing?, shroud?, bracket? that 'protects' the back-up switch that is attached to the drivers side transmission side cover.
I've looked in the 1971 A.I.M and my '53 to '71 P & A 30B parts book and cannot find a picture or a description, partly because I don't know what this piece is properly referrred to.
A name and part # would be helpful, possibly suggestions where to obtain one would be appreciated as well. Thanks.
My white car has this piece, the orange car is missing it.

Warren -- your post doesn't indicate the model years but I see your profile shows two LS6's.

All I can say is that Gr 2.698 is where it SHOULD be, and my Jan '70 P&A catalog shows these: switch, back-up lamp (or backing lamp), and the bracket, rod and shield are also there. But the shield doesn't seem to be listed for anything except '65-7. Group 4.054 is also referenced for the shield, but again for '65-7.

      Wayne,

I went and looked, and a description of shield sounds correct. I don't know why it's listed for just those years though. Seems strange. Does anyone have a suggestion who might have this proper piece for my application?

The shield was the same for C1, C2 and C3----GM #3706355. It was discontinued more than 25 years ago, though. However, it is reproduced and available from most of the Corvette parts vendors.

The shield was used only for Corvette and 64-68 passenger car with 4 speed transmission. So, finding one in a wrecking yard is probably going to be unlikely.

          Joe,

Thanks so much. You are definitely an incredible asset to this forum! I will check with some Corvette vendors.
