    Engine re-builders in Phoenix

    Hello

After 40 years of service the time has come to rebuild the 435HP engine in my 68.

I would like to get recommendations of quality engine re-builders in the Phoenix, AZ area that understand the NCRS and can rebuild my engine.

    John

      John,

Look up Faber Corvettes in Phoenix.

Doug built a 283 short block for me a few years ago and did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. I never inspected his shop as I live in NJ, but his quality of work and attention to detail were great. He is a longtime Corvette owner and mechanic and has a good feel for NRCS requirements and won't do something stupid like decking the head and wiping out original numbers.

I am not sure of his big block experience but he is worthy of giving a call to find out more. Try to speak with Doug, not his son Cary who tends to be a bit curt.

Here is their info taken from a web reference:

      Faber Corvette
      Phoenix, Az
      (602) 252 7436

Father and Son shop. Works on 1953-1967 only. No sharks, No C4s. INCREDIBLE inventory of parts. I buy all my parts from Doug and Cary Faber. They protect me from myself, never let me buy anything I don't need, or anything incorrect. They also trade out old parts, unused stuff, etc.

      Good luck!
      Mike

John, 10+ years ago I had my 63 327/340 rebuilt at Chuck's Speed and RV Center. THey did a great job, but I had to help them with what was NCRS correct... They did want to deck my block, but I insisted that they couldn't. It turned out fine. The engine is absolutly fantastic. Now that was a long time ago, but they were good then. They also set up a 2x4 carb and intake on a 283 for me..
