I'm having lots of trouble getting the top on my '54 to go down enough to get the deck lid to close. It looks like everything is down as far as it goes, but the lid is still a couple of inches short of closing. Am I missing something? The top looks like it's adjusted properly and the deck lid looks fine with the top up. I was having trouble with it because the top frame had just been powdercoated, but I think I have that issue solved. I'm new to the '54s and am not really sure if there is some trick to lowering it more that I don't know about. I'm sure I'm just overlooking something, but I can't find any decent instructions as to how to work that top. The owner's manual is very vague and the shop manual doesn't really get into it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to explain but you need to turn the header down as the last thing to do. You should not be able to see the header weatherstripping if done right. And keep the cloth away from being between the frame links as they collapse.Using the straps correctly helps.
