    C1 Side Fender Moulding Installation

Is the a "trick" to installing the upper side fender moulding on the 58-61s to keep it from getting a buldge from the screw mounted clip by the door?

The moulding I'm asking about is at the top of the cove and runs from the front of the front tire opening to the door. Every time I've installed one I get a buldge from the head of the screw holding the clip that is attached with a screw just in front of the door. Thanks, Ted

Are you using the special low-profile-head screw spec'd for that retainer application? Most of the "kits" have the wrong screws.

John thanks for the response. We used the original clips and screws that came off of the car. The heads are pretty thin. I didn't know if maybe it helps putting one side on before the other. The interesting part is it doesn't seem to happen with the bottom fender molding that uses two of the same clips.

I'm on my '61 with side moldings. I do remember flat head screws at the hardware store, heading there. My questions is, the pan head screws from Paragon just go thru the holes loose. Any ideas? Super glue, barrel clips? Thanks much.

Small pop aluminum pop rivet ----------- can easily be drilled out if needed. I have also installed with screws and ground head down with dremel after screw installation where and when needed. Most of the time it is possible to just carefully roll the trim on with firm finger pressure rather than hitting.
