    Correct spark plugs?

What are the correct spark plugs for an 86 Corvette? Is there a currently produced AC high performance alternative that would not lose points in a judging event? Any help here will be most appreciated.

1986 L-98 used both cast iron and aluminum heads. Spark plugs were different for each type head. However, assuming that your car is the one pictured in your avatar and it's, therefore, a convertible, it should have aluminum cylinder heads.

In that case, your application originally used spark plugs of AC type FR3CLS. As far as I can tell, these plugs were last available under GM #5613796. However, they are discontinued and I can't find a supercessive number, although there MAY be one. I doubt it, though.

Plugs of AC type 41-817 will service your application and are a high performance platinum plug. They are GM #88901023.

I use the AC Rapidfires on my 85 and used them on an 87 I had previously. Car runs great on them.

you wont lose points on any ac plug because you cant see them good enough to judge them. if they look correct with the wire on then they pass. if they are a different color or something that stands out then maybe you will take a hit.

Peter, Typically that info is in your glove box owners manual. Watch ebay for those plugs. John D.

                Ken -

The "E-3" plugs are just one more marketing scam designed to lighten your wallet, like "Splitfire" plugs, the "Turbinator" and all the other scams out there. Use a plug of the correct physical configuration and heat range for your application and it'll work just fine. A spark is a spark.

This is great information, Joe . Are the AC type 41-817/GM #88901023 plugs for the aluminum head engines?
