Will be "hitting the bricks" in about 30 minutes headed toward Novi from the Balmer area - driving up with a couple of other NCRS members - about a 10-hour trip with a couple of stops thrown in - see everyone on the judging field or in the hotel - where ever - youse all be safe!

Re: On the Road to Novi
I'm leaving too.
Raining "cats and dogs" here. So much for the idea of a 2008 Corvette that "never saw rain."

Re: On the Road to Novi
Patrick, Are you feeding the ops judges on Thursday? Typically our chapter feeds the judges and workers breakfast and lunch on Fri-Sat but since the cars have to have ops done before being brought indoors it's on Thursday. Thanks, John D.- Top

Re: On the Road to Novi
For what it's worth, I found it VERY helpful when hosting a Regional/National meet, to go visit the local cop shops and chat. Having a local sponsoring chapter member who's in the law enforcement community with you also helps!
Specifically, a short chat with the capt or lt who runs the area(s) adjacent to the meet site and explain what NCRS is and what we do at our Regional/National Meets sets the tone (these are high-$ value classic cars owned by serious restorers).
Also, explaining what our Performance Verification test is (NOT a 'speed contest' -- a does it work shake down on public highways conducted by cognizant professionals WITHIN the legal speed limits) and the where/when details gets the word out....
Heck, the last couple of times I did this, local police attitude turned 180 degrees from watching the suckas closely to being genuinely protective/helpful!- Top

Re: On the Road to Novi
Jack, Today the Michigan Chapter found the PERFECT location for PV judging.....................The GM Milford Proving Grounds! AND NO judges were necessary!!! We used turn signals , right foot pedal (a lot) , left foot pedal(where applicable), and center pedal, put the tops up and down a few times (sprinkles on and off) wipers, checked the doors operation ( stepped out on the track a few times...................etc.
And there were only 2 or 3 vehicles that didn't pass the tests.
And We had a BLAST doing it!
