    Frame number(s)

    Before I go do something stupid ( again ) - I acquired the correct frame stencil for my '65. Am I correct that it is applied only on the passenger's side about 2/3d's back from the front and closer to the real wheel well. AND, the stencil is applied with the numbers upside down ?

    Lastly, will any white paint work or is there a special shade or gloss/semi-gloss finish ?

    The body is on the car and this is one of a few last things I am trying to get correct for judging. I'm assuming I can accomplish this by simply taking off the side molding and masking off the door area to keep any overspray off of the fiberglass.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Frame number(s)

    You are correct. the stencil was applied with the frame upside down, so stencil will appear upside down when the frame is right side up. It is located on the passenger side frame rail along side a hand written date. Also, the stencil was not spray painted, but rather painted with a roller. There was a link with several pics of original frames posted a few days ago which will show you the exact location.

      I have Noland Adams book - which shows the stencil applied. It just doesn't show both sides and I wanted to confirm.

      thanks,

          Hello;
          Are we sure all frame numbers were painted w/ a roller ?

          Ever see a paint run on a frame number ? Can't imagine the mess of keeping paint active in a roller situation.

          Just Asking !

          Thanks, Ray

            Yes, they were rolled on. Any paint runs would be running to the top of the frame since they were painted with the frame upside down. I only know what I read in the funny pages and on this forum.
