1961 movie "The Green Helmet". Corvette History related

I recently recorded and watched this movie on Turner Classic Movies (TCM is channel 132 on the Dish Network). The story and actors are a little weak but there is original footage from Le Mans, Sebring and Mille Miglia. No Corvettes in the MM, some Corvettes including the start from Le Mans. More Corvette footage from Sebring including the main characters rival driving a 58-61 Corvette. Having been only 3 or 4 years old when these races occurred, the footage though brief was stirring. Still love the sound of a V-8 versus 4 and 6 bangers!

The footage used is from 1960 Sebring and 1960 Le Mans.

I have always thought it was a strange title for a movie produced in black & white.

Yes, he was the co-driver at Sebring movie shots with lead character.

Saw it. Car footage is the only reason for wathcing that bomb. The idiot that directed had them laughing for no reason whatsever. Love the scene where a Corvette (or something expensive) spins out and then you see a sedan roll over and catch fire. Almost a good edit job...

Did you guys see "On the Beach"? It had been so long since I watched it that I had forgotten the race scenes in there with Fred Astaire driving a FOUR cylinder Ferrari!! Pretty depressing film overall, though.

A silver '58 Corvette appears in the race sequences. It was owned by the late Jim Wilkinson, whose father was the Chief Engineer for Franklin. '58's motor was by Ed Pink and was driven during the footage by Ak Miller.
