    C1 Transmission Numbers?

I am trying to identify a transmission I have to see what it belongs to. Could anyone offer any help? Here are the numbers and markings:

    Driver's side: GM 35 3743368 K0140
    Shifter cover: 3741357 219 GM
    Tailshaft: GM1 1188 3737450

Any help would be appreciated. I am looking for a 3 speed for a late "56, but don't know if this will work or not. As always, thanks for your help.

That's a Saginaw '58-'63 main case, and a '57-'60 tailhousing; have no idea on the side cover.

If the 3737450 tailshaft is a '57 it would have vertical half moon cutouts on each side of the rear tailshaft oil seal. 3737450 for '57 were vented and not dated until about May '57. After May '57 all the 3737450 had cast dates to the right of the part no. Gary....

Mark, a way to tell the side plate differences between a passenger car and Corvette aside from the numbers is that the Corvette shift arms point up and the passenger cars point down. The notch for the shift arm securing bolt on Corvettes is on the bottom, while the passenger cars bolt notch is on top. Gary....

Here's a photo of the passenger car application - as Gary noted, the shift levers point up on the Corvette, and down on the passenger car; the shifter shafts themselves are different between the passenger and Corvette application, as they are blind-splined to positively locate the levers.

Great picture, John. It just shows that I have a lot to learn about C1's. I appreciate the input.

Sure wish mine looked that good....wait...I just remembered... I don't have the correct transmission for my car! That's a fairly key component, too. Maybe soon.
