    Judging a Powerglide

My 55 has a 3 speed in it which is incorrect. What year PG can I use and not lose judging points? I have a line on a 58, would that work?

    Thanks.

    Re: Judging a Powerglide

Tyler, My 53 to72 Corvette Specifications Guide shows that the only Powerglide transmission that 55 to 61 Corvettes had was a cast-iron Powerglide transmission built at Cleveland, with a transmission code of C. I take this as all Corvette Powerglides from 55 to 61 were the same. The actual transmission codes are not judged. Passenger car transmissions will work, but the tail section needs to be changed.

All PG's are not the same ,55 dint use a vacuum modulator or a vacuum line. 58 did!

Tyler, buy it if it has the Corvette tailshaft on it. That's the higher dollar part and VERY hard to find! Then buy a '57 passenger car powerglide. They are readily available at most swap meets. Good luck, Gary....
