I read all the posts on spiral shocks last month and a reproduction solution to this need didn't appear imminent. Then I found 55-57 spiral shocks in Eckler's latest passenger car catalog(pp 194) ,all dimensions appear a match for my 57 except for a ring at the bottom of the front shock instead of a threaded stud. I called and they didn't know of a variation for Corvettes and couldn' t give me their suppliers name. Does anyone know who the supplier might be or if anyone has been successful in cutting off ring and welding on a threaded rod?

Re: 57 spiral shocks
Feedback from the '67-'69 Camaro restoration community on the spiral reproduction shocks is that they're JUNK - poor jounce and rebound damping, very flabby, not something you'd want on anything but a trailer queen that isn't driven, and you have to stamp your own dates. Hardly worth the agony.- Top
