    c-1 Grill

Putting my 54 grill together to insert into the fiberglass grill opening and getting ready to tighten up all of the fasteners for the teeth, grill bar, brackets, and grill oval. There is a larger space between the teeth and the grill oval on the upper side vs the lower side. I believe the difference is intentional but I don't know which is correct bigger space on top or on bottom.
Would someone who has an original grill setup please stick your finger in the space between the grill oval and the grill teeth and report where the bigger space is, topside or bottom.
    Thanks Ted

Put the shell only in first if the Radiator is already in.

Ted, the larger space should be on the bottom side of the end teeth. The spacing evens up between the top and bottom of the grille teeth as you move close to the center. If for some reason you need to spread the oval out a little to line up with the body. Use a couple of Irwin or Bessey hand squeeze clamps the spread as well as clamp. Space the two clamps at about 1/3 of the way in on each side and slowly spread to align. Had to do this to my grille oval after it was repaired/rechromed. Hope this helps. Gary....

The spreading clamps are a great idea.
        Thanks, Ted
