Pittsburgh, PA regional event Jun 12-14.

Our Pittsburgh Tri-State Chapter is hosting a regional at the well known Seven Springs Ski Resort June 12-14.
QT: NCRS Judging Reference Manual on page 43 Section 13 states in item #4. Cutoff date for judging entries?

Our registration sheet states May 15th 2008. Can we at this point turn away any more requests for flight judging? Our show is about maxed out. Most all of the indoor space available is sold out for flight judged cars.
(if not all). Anymore requests for judging will result in an entire class being judged outdoors.
Our show chairman Don Geary has done a wonderful job. All the team has. But we are at odds on how to handle this sold out space situation.
Recap: I cannot find anywhere in the Judging Reference Manual where it states that we must except X amount of cars per class no matter what.
If so please point this out to me with section number or quote from the manual.
Your help is appreciated. My job is show-co-ordinator or the trouble shooter. Our chapter typically meets with the board and votes on everything as we should. So I want to have some good info before our upcoming Tuesday night meeting.
    Thanks very much, John D.

FIPhart, I do not have my Chapter Guidelines nor the Judging Reference manual in front of me, but classes are generally limited to 8 cars for Flight Judging and 4 cars for Performance Verification. With the approval of the Team Leader and the National Judging Chairman you could add more cars in that class and judge two days. I think that most of the answers to the questions are in the Judging Reference Manual.

Most chapters will stop accepting car registrations at the posted deadline. With the space limitations that you have I would use the 8 car limit.

Dick, Thanks for your reply and your help. Sometime just for clarification point out in the manual where it states the 8 car limit. By the way farmer ur spelling is off a tad as usual on my proper name. JD

John, I just lost all that I typed over the last five minutes, and I am NOTgoing to do it again -- NOT for you or anyone else. Someone who can cut and paste it can quote it exactly.

8 cars per class per day is the limit.

Judging Reference Manual, 7th edition, page 9.

NO exceptions unless Roy Sinor approves.

          John,

Here in MI we've had to turn away cars for Flight Judging as well as for Performance Verification. No one likes it and many don't understand it, but I fully understand as the Chairman of the Motor City event how you may need to do the same thing. Don't feel bad about having to impose limits on entries and also be firm with regard to your cutoff date.

Terry, I would have expected that you would have typed it over again for old JD though. I don't blame you. I gots the JRM in front of me and see there are a few loop holes if you combine classes with a low number of cars in a particular class. Course once again old JD ain't the Judging chairman of the event. That's Bill Gilbert's job and the team leaders, etc.
All I am worried about is if there is enough real estate available to park the flight cars under roof.
            Thanks very much. John D.

Patrick, Once again thanks for offering to come to our Pittsburgh show to help judge. I don't know exactly how many judges we are short . But I do know that Carlton's 63-64 team is definitely short judges. Now that info is two days old. Hard to keep up with this. I don't know how we were able to put on a show in the past without having boo coo emails. Oh I just remembered that the phone rang all nite long.
But if spite of all the excitement and last minute joes it's a pleasure to put on one of these shows. Almost as much fun as taking a header off the north main street bridge don't u think Patrick. Ah you gotta love it.
I will say when you are having a problem the NCRS guys are there to help in any way they can. It's the last minute car owners that drive you crazy. Maybe their pride n'joy was in a 1000 pieces and they just now feel they can get it together again. On the other hand Patrick it's all your fault for turning them away and now they want to come to our fine show. Yeah that's the answer for sure. Look forward to seeing you. Holler if you need anything. I am in charge of the food, booze, etc. etc. Main thing though is having my little white car judged. Chef Art

Yes, John there is some latitude -- and some of it is Bill's call, and some needs concurance of the Team Leader and/or the National Judging Chairman. In my years as Team Leader I learned that events always go better if there is good communication between the Judging Chairman, the Team Leaders and Roy Sinor. Surprises DO NOT go over well. The more everyone is on the same page, the better the event goes.
