1955 chrome around emergency brake light

The chrome around my emergency brake light is starting to tarnish and pit and needs rechroming. How do you get it off. do you remove the steering wheel and hub or do you have to remove the steering column. Thanks

Don, you need to remove the steering wheel with a puller(mark the wheel's position on the shaft with a scribe!) and the hub. Be sure batt is disconnected and remove the hub. Then you can remove the chrome bezel. While you're at it, check the horn copper contact for wear and replace if needed.

Take careful note of how the horn assy. came apart so to reassemble correctly.
