Spacer on WS Wiper Drive Arm??

The '65 AIM shows a "spacer" that goes on the WS wiper motor drive arm, between the two drive rods. Took my car apart a LONG time ago and I don't find such an item in my saved parts.

To fit on my assembly, the spacer would have to be very thin. Not much slop between my drive rods.

Is this "spacer" in fact REALLY thin, like a nylon washer? Or did the motor drive arm change length at some point, making the spacer unnecesary?

That spacer is thick - about 3/16" or so, and is a rubber/fiber material; its function is to keep the tubular portion of the drive links from hitting each other. If it's omitted, the drive links WILL hit each other once every motor revolution with a loud "clunk".
