62 paint color behind front bumperettes
What color should the paint be behind these. I see body color then some with black?

I am sure that for a 1958-60, the color should be black. Not sure for a '62. If you have the 1961-62 Judging Manual, it will tell you. If you don't, I recommend you get one for a valuable source of information. -

Bumperettes began in 1953. They are the verticals on either side of the license plate mount bar. They were essentially the same in 53-57, and then another style was identical from 58 through 62.
The question probably should be worded "bumpers" instead, because there is no paint issue at all behind the bumperettes. Behind the bumpers is clearly spelled out in the judging manual.
John, I applaud your enthusiasm, and the guys on the board have been pretty patient and helpful--most of the many questions you are asking have been clearly dealt with in the judging manual--you need to get one and read it carefully. You will then look much less like a "newby" and more like someone who does his homework first. Presuming that you have ordered the manual, and it just hasn't arrived yet--the area behind the front bumpers is blacked out with flat black paint.

The front license Bumperettes "brackets" were dip painted black....
If you mean behind the front "eyelets" divided by the front bumpers...semi-gloss black....Comment
