    Another Newbie Here

    Howdy all.

I purchased my first Corvette approximately 7 weeks ago. It's a 1972 Coupe 350/200 Automatic w/ PS/PB/PW/AC in beautiful Bryar Blue. It is a VERY original 70K mile car in beautiful condition cosmetically however some surface rust and a few leaks below. I'll be posting the usual newbie type questions (after I scour the previous posts for answers of course) as I strive to reach Top Flight status or better!!!! I may be close already but am still learning. I just received yesterday the Judging Reference Manual, Operations Manual/PV Test Guide, and Tech Info Manual/Judging guide.

Looking forward to being a part of the group here.

    Regards,
    Roger

Welcome to a great discussion board with a bunch of fun loving but very knowledgable people. Fire away with your questions. I've been a member for a few short years and still feel like a "newbie" many times.

      Hi Roger
Welcome I have a 1972 also mine is Ontario Orange with a white top
pretty much the same equipment. Bryar Blue is one beautiful color one of my favorites. I see you are in Texas, the Regional in Waco in October is a very good place to find out were your car is. There is always a very knowledgeable and friendly group there. Stan our team leader is a grate guy if you have a question send him a e mail and he will do his best to help. You will find the more you get involved the more fun you will have.
But remember not to take you first judging personally Have fun you will make friends for life. Good luck

Welcome Roger. Another Texas Shark owner. I love em'. Two things! don't throw anything away or change anything on the car until you get more aquainted with the 72'. Read the manual as you go through the car and whatever you find different, don't change it until a judge looks at it. Hope to see you at our chapter events.

Welcome. If you haven't joined the Texas Chapter, check us out at www.ncrstexas.org. We have a great bunch of folks in the chapter and as Bob Cook said don't change anything until you have your car flight judged. That is the best way to see what you have and where you may want to go. Our Lone Star Regional is scheduled for 23-25 October in Waco. This is a great place to have it flight judged. We usually have lots of master judges there.

Bob Demmel is absolutely correct about bringing your Corvette to Waco. I attend that event every year now but only to appreciate the event as a spectator. The Corvettes, their owners, the judging. Impressive.
Try to attend the Lone Star Classic at the Texas Motor Speedway coming up May 17-18, too. There are usually about 400 Corvettes entered in that show plus many in the parking lots.

Fellas, thanks for the great welcome!!! Bob Cook/Bob Demmel, don't know if you remember me or not but I had spoken to both of you about an Ontario Orange '72 that was at the Waco Regional this past Fall (the owner had put it up for consignment sale at a place in Waco). I never went to look at that car but ended up with a really nice one out of Austin Texas. My brother bought a 1969 coupe a week after I did also one out of Austin.

Sounds like the only thing I should do before Fall is the get 'er cleaned up for a baseline judging. She has a few leaks and I am not sure how extensive the job it will be to get those fixed yet. So far I have just been enjoying my car at a few local shows and have met some really great folks on the way!!!

I remember the conversation well. Glad you bought something that you like. Bring 'er down to Waco and we'll have a good old time. Heck have your brother bring his '69 too. The more Sharks the better!

Thanks Bob. I really appreciated the time you and Bob Cook took to talk to me about what I would eventually purchase. It was yours and several other's council that guided me towards purchasing the right car in the first place.

                      Hi Roger,
Welcome and I'm glad you're here. I'm a 71 owner and look forward to your posts. 71s and 72s have a whole lot more things that make them the same than make them different.
