    64 Steel Wheels

I have a set of 15X7 ralley wheels on my 64. I have finished restoring the chassis, but my rear leaf spring is interfering with the inside of the rear wheels. I am considering the Wheel Vintiques 15X6 repro wheels. I know they are not correct for 64, but can't afford to search for correct date coded KHs. Has anyone tried the repro steel wheels...and what are your thoughts? Any problems getting the hubcaps to stay in place?

You must have the 7" Rally wheels that were used on other model lines. They have close to zero offset. The Corvette 7" Rally wheels have -0.28" offset to provide adequate clearance to the rear spring ends, but they will not work on a C2 with anything near OE diameter tires without shaving the fender reinforcement lips.

OE '67 6" Corvette Rally wheels (0.030" offset) will work on any C2 and AFAIK all OE C2 wheelcovers will fit on these wheels.

I don't know about the repros, but if they are reasonably correct, the above should also hold.

The 6" repos that I bought from a vendor at a Super Chey show did not work on the rear of my 64 either.
If I were buying again I would buy from a Corvette supplier that would assure me that his wheels will fit on the rear of a 64.

Thanks Duke and Ted. Yes the wheels are service replacements for either 70 Monte Carlo or 69 Camaro Z28...I think the code was "JK" stamped. they may be worth something to a chevy guy. They were on my car before I tore it down, now after rebuilding the chassis, they dont fit. I have not shimmed up the trailing arms yet so that may buy me a little clearance. I think I am leaning more towards a 6" wheel and wanted to steer clear of the repros if they are not quality wheels.
