does any one know how the little square metal plate attaches to the screen mesh inside the trunk lid. I believe that there is a mesh inside the trunk lid of a friends 54 .How is the connection to the arial made. It is all fibreglassed in.

On my '55, the connector attaches to the plate on the trunk lid with two screws.- Top

On the car we are talking about someone has removed the little square backing plate from the trunk lid and has glassed in in the hole and made it look nice and smooth. My guess is that they did not know therre was an arial screen in the fibreglass. In order to get it to work now we have to somehow get a backing plate attached to the mesh which would end up flush to the fibre glass so that the little nylon fitting (which holds input cable)can attach to it with the 2 little screws. Do you have any ideas on how it was originally attached or any ideas on how to rig up something.- Top

But you have nothing to lose (try it)
or find another trunk.
