    69 Correct Carb Q-Jet 7029204

I few questions related to finding the correct carb for my '69 427 auto car; the current carb is not correct.
    1. Any idea on where I can find a rochester quadrajet #7029204; I have not been able to find any?
    2. What is point deduct if I purchase a rebuilt by holley Q-Jet out of one of the catalogs which fits the engine & intake but is not the correct #?
    3. What is the point deduct if I purchase an Edelbrock rebuild for that engine.
    Thanks,

    Don

    Hi Don:

In response to your questions regarding the carburetor, the Holley or the Edelbrock should result in a total deduction, since neither carburetor is the correct part for the car. You might want to check with Phil Cancilla from Custom Rebuilt Carburetors (732-356-4333) for the correct Rochestor carburetor.

    Good luck !

      Mark,

Thanks. I contacted them and they have at least one in stock which is the only I've seen on the market. At this time, I don't an extra $900 for that carb so I'll continue looking around.

        Don

I would look at ebay on a regular basis and you could also post an ad on the Corvette Forum and I think it is Team Camaro and Team Chevelle because the 7029204 carb was also used on those cars. They do come up on ebay every few months so make sure you know which date range will work for you and be ready to drop $500-$600 on a good core...more for a restored unit. A service dated carb will be a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

I don't think you would get a full deduct for a Holly remanufactured Q-Jet as long as it was configured properly with the divorced choke and so forth. I'm not a judge but I would guess that if it looks correct with the exeption of the numbers then you should get half or so of the originality points which would then make it eligible for the condition points.

Putting on a Edelbrock would leave you with no carb points as it looks nothing like a Q-Jet.
