    1963 front brake drum

does some one know where i can buy repro drums
that come close to the looks of original drums

like with the spring groove and with the wider ridge as the original design ?

    thank you Sander,

I don't know if "w/o front anti...." means that it does not come with a spring or a spring can not be installed. Give them a call.

They do come up on eBay sometimes.

Front drums off 63 & 64 Impalas are the same as Corvette too.

Be very careful on this. I recently replaced the brakes on my 63 choosing to go with the replacement drums from Ecklers. I had metallic linings and could not find replacement linings, so went to Matrix Ceramics. I was told by everyone I talked to that, being as how my car had over 40k miles on it, I should assume I would have to replace the drums as metallic linings would have the drums all chewed up and out of spec, too bad to turn. So I got the replacements before I even started the job. Besides the obvious appearance differences, I found I could not get them adjusted properly at all. It appeared to me that the dimension from the hub flange surface to the inside braking surface was different, i.e. the shoes were not aligned properly with and seating in the drums. Then, here I am, a whole new type of lining with replacement drums! What do I blame and change to correct the situation?

So, I took my old drums into our local "Just Brakes" and had them miked and learned that all four would clean up with a minimal cut, which is what I did. After swapping left to rights, I finally got a good initial (break in) adjustment on them. I now have run them in about 400 or so miles and they are performing up to or better than the original metallic linings. I still don't have the anti-chatter springs back on because, well, it will take at least two people to do it, I believe.

If at all possible, from my experience, stick with the correct 63 drums or ones from any source that you are certain are correct replacements. You want the groove for the anti-chatter springs, and the wide flange.
