Should a May 66 built L79 have the valve cover flaw (line thru O)?

Yes, but many in this vintage appear quite 'faint' when compared to those available today. I believe the fault in the die has gotten worse over the years.

Ed. I agree. It's my understanding the mold cracked on the late 66's. A May build date would qualify as a late build. It continued throughout all of 67.

Our April 26 66 came with one cover with a flaw, one without. Not sure if they are original to the car, but it's a data point.
