63 Pinch Welt Cap Installation

Hello, folks,

Can anyone provide a picture of the pinch welt cap(s) as installed on a 63 convertible? Do they slip over the end of the pinch welt, or do they just butt up to it? As currently installed on my 63, the pinch welt only comes up to about 1/2 inch below the top of the top edge of the quarter trim panel.

The welt on my 63 cnv tuck under the ss cap. The cap is about 1.25" long and the cap screw hole is down the length about 0.5". So it would not be unusual for pinch welt to be short, but covered by the cap.

There might be several versions of this cap however. I have a hole in my rear quarter panel and the door sill to accept the screw and secure the cap.

Depends on whether your convt. is early or late. Early '63's have a glue-on pot-metal cap, painted interior color. Later '63's have a stainless cap with special screw to hold it in place.
